Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing has weighed in on the ongoing social media drama between businesswomen Diiadem and Dabota Lawson, taking a swipe at those she described as “self-acclaimed Lagos big girls.”
In a post shared on social media, the actress suggested that some people go to great lengths to maintain an impressive lifestyle online, only for their reality to be different behind closed doors.
Nkechi said people should not feel pressured to associate themselves with the so-called Lagos big girls, noting that she prefers to keep her life private rather than constantly display her lifestyle online.
“Na una want be friends with self-acclaimed Lagos big girls by force, people wey be say na online aesthetic want wound them, the moment you go close you go too pity them,” she wrote.
She jokingly described herself as a “Yankee broke girl,” saying she does not identify with the big-girl lifestyle and is more concerned about having enough to eat and being able to afford tickets to travel.
According to her, the pressure to belong to the Lagos big-girl circle does not interest her because she values her personal space and does not feel the need to prove her financial status online.
Nkechi also noted that people often assume she is broke simply because she does not regularly flaunt her lifestyle on social media.
“Cus we no dey post lifestyle dem go call us broke,” she added.
